So this last week was awesome. A lot of cool things happened. We did a whole lot of walking. Because of where our investigators live, in the morning we walk to one end of Mo Bay, we pack our own lunches and spend half the day doing that. One of the places that we go to is called Canterbury. It is known in Mo Bay as a bad area but when we go there we never have any problems. It's a pretty cool place, it reminds me a lot of Spanish town. Elder Conder walked around a corner to go pee and walked right into a ganja field. In a place like Canterbury you never know what is around the corner. Then we go to the other end of Mo Bay to a place called Cathrine Hall. Cathrine Hall is a really cool place and is a nice area. The 17 year old World Cup has been going on and a lot of the games have been played here. The USA played and beat Jamaica so the people here were giving us some stuff about that but it was all in good fun. Some people even thought that we were players. We are teaching a cool family right now. It's three brothers named Marlin, Marc and Ricardo. Their ages are between 19-25. Marlin is engaged to Alicia and they live together with their 3 month old baby. The baby is a tank! They are really cool and strong investigators. It's fun to go and teach them. On Wednesday we were walking to an appointment and saw this guy pull out a gun on this little kid, then the little kid ran away and the guy with the gun started running away down the street. Everybody was just sitting around like it was no big deal...Jamaica. We heard some more gun shots the other night and they were really close. It's funny because when guns are shot, nobody even flinches, not even us. It's just like "oh, okay." We have been going teaching a lot with the senior couple, the Sorensens. Elder Sorensen is one of the funniest men alive. The Sorensens are awesome. On Sunday, we had 6 of our own investigators at church which is awesome! We taught Melissa only one lesson and it was on Saturday. She wasn't sure if she was going to come but she was there on Sunday and she really liked it. Then the members brought 2 friends to church and they really liked it. We were able to set up a return appointment with them. Sunday was an awesome day. Our branch president here is a stud. President Lee is really funny. Today for P-day we went to this bird sanctuary and a chance to feed native Jamaican humming birds by hand. They would fly up to you and sit on your finger while they ate from a bottle you held. It was fun. Elder Peterson and Fangalua came up with some other senior couples so that was cool. I was able to get an awesome wallet I have wanted ever since I saw Elder Peterson's. His mom got one for me so that was legit. I tried making my own weight set out of water.....it didn't work.

Update

So this update covers 2 weeks. Elder Conder came over from Highgate which is from what i hear bush and country. So coming here has been a change for him. He is a cool guy from Utah and we teach well together so that's been awesome. Last week nothing really too exciting happened except for transfers. This last week we had really good lessons with our investigators. We are teaching these 3 cousins, Marlin, Ricardo and Marc and Marlins girlfriend Alicia. They are way cool. Teriann and chevell have are doing great to and so is Jordon. And all of their baptism dates are fast approaching. Yesterday in church we had 4 investigators at there and they all loved it. Ricardo almost didn't make it until Elder Conder and I showed up at their house to walk with him and his cousins to church. Marlin was sick and Marc wasn't there but Ricardo was and at first he didn't want to come but we had a good quick lesson with him about church an then he said I'm going to shower and I'll be right out. So we wait for him and church starts at 10 and its like 9:45 and its about a 7 minute walk from his house. We started thinking that we were going to be late. He finally comes out at like 9:54 and we start walking we are speed walking to the church I felt like Hal in Malcom in the Middle. We get to church and they are just about finishing the opening hymn so we made it with a verse to spare. After church we taught a lesson to Jordon, Chevelle and Brittney and that was fun. We taught them the Law of Chastity and the Word of Wisdom. Our landlord had a small party for her son's birthday and she invited us up for it and for the first time in Jamaica I had a real Grilled hot dog on a bar B Q. It was awesome then we had cake. I had 3 hot dogs and a cupcake rice and peas and yam and a piece of cake. Then we went to teach a guy near our house, he is Cuban. He wasn't there but his friend was and he offered us some Cuban food and even tho we just ate, as a missionary you rarely turn down food so Elder Conder and I said " We would love to try some Cuban food." So he gave us a big bowl of rice and chicken. Its crazy how many Cubans are here but its fun talking with them in Spanish. I heard from Elder Montgomery he says he loves it out there in Caymans. Oh and on Wednesday Elder Peterson and Fungalua came down on a trade off and I learned some good stuff from district meeting from them and then Elder Fangalua and I went and taught some lessons and that went good. So that's the update.

6 months.. CRAZY!!

So last week i didnt get a chance to email a blog update home so this covers 2 weeks. The big news first. I had my 6 month mark on Feb. 4th. It has been 6 months since Elder Montgomery, Ostberg and Randle first stepped foot in Jamaica. Time goes by pretty fast its crazy! Some other big news is that transfer calls were done on Sunday and I will be staying in Mo Bay and Elder Colucci will be going to Kingston. I will be serving with Elder Condor. I dont really know to much about him. I found out Sunday that my good friend Elder Montgomery is going to the Cayman Islands. That is way cool and im happy for him. He is going to tear it up there. Elder Peterson is still my ZL so thats cool. So these last couple of weeks we have been working with some pretty strong people. We are working with Terriann and her daughter Chevelle and we are working with a young man named Jordan. They are awesome and they all have dates for the 19th. Jordan wants an ocean baptisim. We also found some really good people that I think will be good. We had 3 investigators at church Sunday and President Hendricks was visiting so that was cool. Earlier this week Terriann's youngest daughter Ashley was very sick when we got there for an appointment. They were getting ready to leave and go to the clinic. I offered if we should give her a blessing. We explained what it meant and the procedure and she agreed. Elder Colucci annointed and I gave the blessing. I dont really remember what I said but After I said amen, Ashley was up and bouncing around and looked alot different then she had before. It was awesome. Then Yesterday after church we went and saw terriann and chevelle and we watched the restoration with them. After we watched it with them they said it made them want to cry. Chevelle has been reading the Book of Mormon and she said when she reads it she doesnt want to put it down and she gets these feelings that she cant explain. People ask her about it and she says she just wants to tell them everything that she knows about it. When we were teaching them Sunday the spirit was so strong. It was one of the best lessons that I have had in my mission. We then went to teach Jordan and man he is smart. He knew everything about what we were teaching him, he could have got up there and taught us. So these last 2 weeks have been pretty good. Everything is so much better when you have good investigators.

So the week before this one we went to falmouth to help a member build a house. We worked on the foundation. It felt so good to do some work like that even tho it was way hot. While we were working we found some 40 leggers. They are huge centipede's that are poision and cause your arm to swell up huge if you get bit by them. Then after the sorrensen's took us to look at some croccidiles. I got a package from the fam with some mash potatoes in it and man i could have died a happy man after eating those things. They were so good
